Ozzy [20 Mar 2006|10:47pm]

[ mood | good ]

Well, I was going to just intro myself, but I figured I should probably post some pics of why I joined this particular community.

This is Ozzy, a 1.5 year old Albino Burm that I got as a rescue. When I got him back in Nov '05, he was malnourished, dehydrated and dealing with a very bad shed, as well as being aggressive from having been fed live in his enclosure. He was hissy, grumpy, and took a couple of shots at me the first few times I handled him. (Never connected, though. ;)

Since then, he's turned into a sweet, lovable family member. He's gone from a skinny 5' to a thick, healthy 6' 6" python, and he's no longer hissy & foul-tempered. My son, my nephew, & my 4 nieces all handle him, and he seems to love the attention.

Pictures!Collapse )

They aren't the best quality, I'm still getting used to my new camera, so once I get some better ones, I'll post back with them.

When Geckos Attack! :P [20 Feb 2006|12:01am]

I found this link to a nifty video clip on another reptile forum. I thought it was hilarious. Definatly better with sound on but be warned pants-weeting due to excessive laughter may occur! :P

Columbian/Red Tail Boa [02 Feb 2006|08:41am]

Hi everyone!

I live in Northern IN and am trying to find a home for my Red Tail. I don't want to ship him though. He was a rescue and I don't have the means to care for him properly. He's squashed into an enclosure that's way too small and due to a lack of time and his previous owner he hasn't been handeled in over 6 months. Needless to say he's a little agressive now. However, with some loving and devoted attention he could be a great snake. If your interested I can be reached at Twstychik@hotmail.com, put MEMNOCK in the subject line so I know it's about the snake, or post a reply here w/ your contact info.

Intergrade Questions... [29 Nov 2005|07:40am]

[ mood | peaceful ]

Hi everyone,

I have a couple of questions about an Intergrade(Diamond x Carpet)python.

1. Should we be giving a 7-month old Intergrade any sort of calcium/phospherous/mineral/vitamin suppliment? If not at this age then in later life? I have read references to feeding Coastal Carpets & Diamond pythons suppliments but nothing specific about Intergrades. Some references I have seen don't mention suppliments at all.

2. Does the above mentioned Intergrade need UV exposure (in the form of a UV "reptile light"?) We get no sun in my flat & have no outdoor area so taking it outside to be exposed to UV is impractical. I have once again read conflicting ideas about it, some stating that UV light is not needed for Carpets but is needed for Diamonds. Being an Intergrade which advice should I follow? There is not much (if any) specific Intergrade python information out there. :(

Thanks for all your help. I really want to do this right.

Water [22 Nov 2005|07:58am]

[ mood | calm ]

Where I live in Australia we have pretty good tap water. I was wondering if I can use tap water to give my python to drink or whether I have to get distilled or purified water. If I can't use tap water would a domestic charcoal water filter make the water usable?
